When you live by the sea your mind is always looking outwards. These six friends, who all went to the same high school in La Rochelle, don’t call themselves The Big Idea for nothing. Always gazing out at the horizon, they truly had a big idea, a crazy project: making an album while sailing across the Atlantic. The preparations included writing a bunch of demos, learning to sail and renovating their boat (Le Grand Vésigue). The fantasy became a reality and the result is The Fabulous Expedition of Le Grand Vésigue, a record of an unlikely but true journey full of lavish songs that weave between finely orchestrated pop, rock and even a touch of Cape Verde following a stopover in Cesária Evora’s homeland.
