At the end of the 90s, Placebo were wreaking havoc. Making venomous songs written in black ink that were light-years away from the dominant Britpop of the time, reinjecting some much-needed glamour and danger into rock music. The original trio have plenty of talent: raw riffs, Stefan Olsdal’s powerful bass and the disquieting voice of Brian Molko, leader, guitarist, lyricist and androgynous icon of a disillusioned fin de siècle. Endorsed by David Bowie and The Cure, the group has released eight studio albums (including their most recent Never Let Me Go, released in 2022) and countless memorable singles (for example, Nancy Boy, Pure Morning, Every You Every Me, Special K and The Bitter End). We’re ecstatic at the idea of experiencing their dazzling live rock performance again – the Placebo effect is not going to wear off any time soon.
