Just like their British compatriots Four Tet, Burial and The Chemical Brothers, Welsh brothers Ed and Tom Russell, perform multi-facetted electro. Their group, Overmono, one of the rising stars on the XL Recordings label, is a homage to their heroes, to original 90s techno, to peaceful electronica and rave trance. By building sound and voice collages (for example by Slowthai or Tirzah) the duo takes us seamlessly from nostalgia to joy. Their debut album, Good Lies, is due for release 12 May 2023, following several tantalizing EPs released these past few months. Since 2021, one of their compositions, So U Kno, was voted song of the year by Resident Advisor, the digital bible of electronic music.
