Between Sonic Youth and My bloody Valentine, like DIIV who they have supported on tour, Julie’s three band members aren’t afraid of being outsiders. Quite the opposite, they assume their passion for shoegaze and noise rock to the point of releasing some of their songs on cassette. These twentysomething 80s fans were raised in California’s Orange County. Singer-guitarist Keyan Zand, singer-bassist Alex Brady and drummer Dillon Lee’s music proves that they have mastered the sounds that so fascinate them. While we wait for the band to level up (by releasing an album), rough diamonds like april’s-bloom and daisy pusher on their Bandcamp page are a great introduction to everything they’re capable of.
