Be Your Own Pet came crashing onto the music scene with their supercharged garage-punk sound back in the middle of the 2000s. Established in Nashville in 2004 while the band members were still at high school, off the back of their debut single released the following year they toured both sides of the Atlantic and signed to a record label. At the time, singer Jemima Pearl was just coming out of the other side of adolescence and their music reflected the youthful energy and the adrenaline rushes that characterise that age group. They released two albums (in 2006 and 2008) which were like two sound storms before announcing they were splitting up. They got back together last year and we can’t disguise how happy this makes us, even more so as they are back with new songs.
