Blending electric guitars, vintage organs and funky rhythms, this band is a continuation of the exalted Anatolian rock tradition comprising an extraordinary Turkish psychedelic movement which had its golden age between the mid-sixties and the end of the seventies. Two members are from Turkey while the other four are Dutch. Based in Amsterdam, far from the former Ottoman empire, this is where this six-piece create their exotic albums like Gece (2019), which earned them a Grammy nomination. Their most recent album Aşk, released in March 2023, incorporates the same spicy notes, oscillating between folk and more contemporary influences. This time they’ve made a real effort to recreate the same intoxicating ambience that flavours their concerts in their recorded material, which has proved to be an excellent idea.
