Ada Oda brings post-punk and lo-fi to France from Brussels’ underground scene via Sicily (where the singer has her roots). It’s a real pleasure to let yourself be swept up by their unruly performances. Brush up on their music by listening to their first album Un Amore Debole : a dazzling concentration of sharp riffs and agitated binary rhythms, served up by a female vocalist singing in Italian. You would never guess that the young woman in question, Victoria, is the daughter of Belgian singer-songwriter Frédéric François, what really matters is that this Belgian-based band is European at heart, effortlessly picking us up and inexorably pulling us towards them. One of their singles is called Niente da Offrire, “nothing to offer” — clearly a big lie!
